20051102 備前の生産地を探る
昨年度に続いて、瀬戸内市の寒風窯跡の探査をおこないました。
『延喜式』で須恵器の貢納国となっている備前国の代表的な窯跡です。
探査で一番してみたいと思っていたことは、まさにこの生産地の探査なのです。
宮都での研究を進めれば進めるほど、須恵器の地域差が無視できないことが明らかになってきました。
しかも、従来想定された単純なずれだけではないのでは、という点も明らかになりつつあります。
じゃあ、どうなるのさ、という点ですが、やはり、各生産地の様相を明らかにしていく作業がより重要になっていくと思います。
私達は生産地の区分を「群別」と呼んで分類を進めていますが、西日本の生産地はほとんど明らかに出来ていません。どうにかそれを明らかにしていきたい、そう考えています。
その前提となる作業として、生産地の調査は不可欠です。
探査だけでなく、考古学の基礎を再構築する研究を様々な地域の研究者と連携していきたいと思っています。
